QUEENSFERRY CROSSING: Scotus directors Jim and Catherine Wallace have taken part in this weekend's historic walk across the new Queensferry Crossing. The construction of the 1.7 mile bridge across the river Forth has been the largest civil engineering project in Scotland for many years. 50,000 people have been given the opportunity to walk over before it opens to traffic - a one time event since it will not normally have pedestrian access. "It was a beautiful day and we strolled with our friends in early September sunshine", said Jim Wallace, "The views across the Forth were spectacular. This was a very special time." Some 250,000 people applied to take part, the lucky 20% being selected by ballot. The Queensferry Crossing is being officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen on Monday, September 4 when the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland will also bless the new bridge.

And we hosted an adult group of Episcopalians and Presbyterians from Wayne, PA while their youth choir also toured in Scotland. You can read what some of them have said about their experiences here. We've just enjoyed the first tour of our 2017 season with the choir of Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church, NJ. The choir sang in Iona Abbey and gave a concert at the local church in Dunning, Perthshire. Last Sunday they sang during morning worship at Stobswell Parish Church, Dundee. It's been a wonderful week of music and travel, enjoying Scotland's beautiful scenery and learning about our history, culture and shared Presbyterian heritage. We're looking forward to receiving our next groups who are coming to us from Pennsylvania, New York, Louisiana and Texas.

Thanks to all of our groups from the 2016 season. This year we toured right into mid October and were blessed with some lovely Fall days. It's been a real pleasure to welcome groups from Fort Wayne, IN; Pelham, NY; Fargo, ND; and New Bern, NC. We've traveled the length and breadth of Scotland together - and I had a great time being with you! I never tire of Scotland's beautiful scenery. I learn more and more about my own country's history every time we tour. And I have the joy of meeting so many of you who come as visitors and leave as friends. Thank you for giving me the privilege.
And haste ye back!

2016 Open Tours - Now Booking
We have two great new tours for 2016 which anyone can join. Discovering Scotland (#1) is in July - an eight day journey through this nation's rich history set against a backdrop of beautiful scenery and city visits. Enjoy the fine hospitality and find out more about Scotland's heritage of faith. The tour includes two nights in the center of Edinburgh. Discovering Scotland (#2) begins at the end of August and runs through the first week in September. This tour is a day longer than the earlier one and includes a stay on Iona - a very special island where, in the year 563, St Columba landed and established a Christian community. Both tours are being managed in person by our director, Jim Wallace. Nice hotels, good food and comfortable coach travel. A fascinating itinerary and so much to see. Earlybird rates until October 30, 2015. Booking now open. See our Brochures page for details.
